Dear eng-tips members:

The toluene 1000kg/hr + Air (O2~10%,N2~90%) 909kg/hr dosing and purge to the reactor to make an exothermic reaction. (Process drawing is attached in)The toluene will be flush up to the top 2 inclined condenser to recover the Toluene back to the reactor(vol=2kL).

I have to sizing these inclined condenser area by HTRI, but I have to define the length , and shell ID. There is a similar plant and reactor(vol=12kL) and similar condenser(Length=3700mm, area=50m2).

May I scale up the new condenser length, area by referring the old plant condenser?
Because I don’t know how much toluene have to be recovering, I don’t know any option I could adapt.

Please give me any advice and suggestion.

Thank you very much.
