First let me start by saying I am what I would consider a Moderate User of UG NX (learned a lot on my own and not from classes).

I function as the CAD Admin as well as a designer so I run the installs and keep things running smoothly, or try to in this case. We have not had this problem in the past and it is beginning to fustrate me and I wanted to see if others possibly have had this and know of a solution.

We are currently running UG NX 7.5.5 (64bit) on Windows 7 OS

The problem appears only on one station out of 11..... The issue is that happening is that when the user imports a part file, that is only a drawing template with title block and general notes, all lines appear but the notes/text do not. I have reset all general setting as well as reinstalled NX to attempt to solve this problem and I cannot seem to get rid of this issue.

Thanks for any help in advanced

Tom

Is it all users on this one machine? Have you tried deleting the user's window profile and recreating. We have had some goofy stuff happen when our windows profile goes corrupt.

Interesting thought I attempted it with a different User Account and still the same result.... :/ So it would appear that it is all users on the one machine.

Are all the layers visible?

Does this computer have the same hardware configuration as the other machines (specifically the same graphics card/driver)?

All layers are visible and active, there is a difference in the Graphics card I am currently having my IT Group download a driver update for it I will be pretty red in the face if this is the issue because I should have thought of the graphics card earlier. I had plenty of problems with NX 5 and Graphics Cards before.... :/

Thanks again for ideas sometimes it is hard to see the trees through the forest..

Updating graphics driver did not help, installed identical video cards (Quadro 600) with identical driver package that we have and no changes.... any other ideas?

Are you importing the same part? I guess having the part you import on a network drive? What happens when you do this save the part and have one of the other machines open the same part? You may want to call GTAC for support.

Do the notes import but are just invisible, or do the notes not import at all?

As a test (if you haven't done so already), import a file on the "problem" computer, save the file and open it on a "good" computer. Do the notes show up?

@Vertigo01, try this.
On the working & non working systems, use Information -> Other -> Layer.
This will then tell you what is in the part on both systems. Do a compare between the two to make sure that all entities actually exist.

If there's a mismatch, then it's an import setting most likely (you haven't specified the import file type).

If it's a complete match, then my guess would be either layers aren't turned on or the colours of the objects your looking for a the same or close to the background colour.
Turn on all layers, then do a Edit -> Object Display, then use select all to change the objects colours to white for example.

The notes do not appear to export on that particular computer running the test that you explained showed that the notes did not import which makes me wonder if this is buried somewhere in the settings (which is why I wiped out UG and reinstalled) but I have not been able to correct this by defaulting the settings and reinstalling.

All Layers are on and workable and the backround are set to monochrome setting that is basically black on light grey. The imported files work on other systems just not one specific workstation. When I do an object comparison the count is exactly the same on a "good" station and the "bad" station. The "bad" station has the problem of not being able to see/select/modify the notes when the file is imported, if the user opens the drawing file instead of importing it he can see and modify the notes, which is baffling me.

As for the file type that we are impoting it is a .prt dummy file that only has drafting notes and title block for our companies.

I have started a conversation with GTAC about this and I have a ticket number but I am still awaiting a call back.
