Importing colored meshes to Creo

Hi,

for reverse-engineering reasons I need to load colored meshes into Creo (elements/pro 5.0) which originally come fom MeshLab in PLY-Format. I can convert the meshes to OBJ, STL, VRML or Rhino/3dm. At least those are the formats that I spotted as being readable/writable by both Creo and MeshLab or can be converted to via Deep Exploratoin.
I can provide the meshes either colored (i. e. they have per vertex colors) or textured.

Unfortunately the colors or textures seem to be lost when importing to Creo. Is there any way to preserve them? Which approach is more feasible: using per vertex colors or textures? Or am I missing something completely? I'm actually pretty new to this and though I spend quite much time searching nothing of use showed up so far.

Glad if anyone could give me a hint.
