Can anyone explain the differences between the IEC60584 code for thermocouples and the ISA thermocouple code?

Are there any other general differences between these two standards apart from the colour codes? I have not used ISA before.

The thermocouple materials are fairly well defined, just the colour codes differ. For example an ANSI type T is built using the same metals as an IEC type T.
