Hi.

I'm doing an I/O count for field devices to a Delta V DCS.
All electric motor data is being picked up via Devicenet.
The Devicenet will be communicating with the Delta V.
What I'm not sure on is, should I count the Devicenet I/O for the motors and add it to my field device I/O count for the Delta V ? I'm no DCS engineer and know nothing about configuration but, I do know that the motor data will appear on the graphics so, it has to be identified and counted in there somehow.
I'm doing a numbers estimate and would appreciate any advice/help.

Thanks.

You will need to count the Devicenet I/O in your count for the DeltaV.

Emerson charges you per I/O (actually, in groups of 25 or 100 or 500 or something like that). It's not necessarily hardwired I/O. Emerson's I/O units are called device tags.

This count also helps the company performing the integration. They will need this number to better understand their estimation for engineering/design time.
