Hi. I'm using I-DEAS 8 on Windows XPSP1, with an Asus GeForce 3 video card, and 45.23 drivers from NVidia.
I get the following error when staring the program:

"The specified I-DEAS user directory does not exist on the operating system. Contact your I-DEAS administrator."

I am kind of flummoxed about this error, so if anyone knows a way around it, do let me know!

TIA
Bhairav.

bhairavp,

Sounds like you may be on a network where the Admin setup a default directory on local machines to hold user files, perhaps?

That or you did this to yourself (by accident of course :)

Either way, you need to do one of 2 things:

1) If supposed to be this way (ie, network setup is correct), then your admin should be able to help you to resolve (this would involve creating the right directory with the right permissions on your local machine).

2) If on your own, etc, then you could simply delete the file that is called <insert user name here>_param, which should be located under your C:\Team\Master directory (or whatever this was changed to during your installation)

NOTE: If you have a bunch of settings saved intentionally in this file (ie, any preferences you've changed since you either installed or last deleted this file), then you could also edit the file to remove the offending line(s) [This second assumes you will be careful when doing this so as to not cause additional issues].

FYI, if you are on a network (and assuming it's setup correctly), you likely can't edit or remove this file (as would be on the server), and thus should need Admin intervention to resolve.

Hope this helps!
