I am performing stability analysis for 20m high embankment dam. Upstream and downstream material in my cross section is almost clayey (1 x10^-7 permeability). my clay core have permeability of 10^-8. There is vertical drain between clay core and downstream material. My model is safe in stability for FRL and MWl conditions.
But the flow vectors showing that water is flowing upward from the vertical filter. What the solution? Should I remove vertical filter?? Is vertical filter is required for homogeneous kind of dam?
