For an oil battery simulation, how is the oil treater usually simulated? Someone use a heater and separater combination, some use distillation column? Input please.

It depends. If you think you have more than one theoretical stage, use a column operation, otherwise use a separator. A column operation, mathematically, is no different than a stack of equilibrium separations.
