Hello and good day to dear Engineers,

First of all, I am new to this Engineering forum. I believe that I can be given some good guidance and references from you all through this forum.

I was given a task to model the existing steam generator with a fired heater using HYSYS program. I have not done this fired heater with HYSYS model before. So, i would like to post my question to get some ideas to start my work.

1. I have tried to model this with the simplified model and after I specified all the inputs, the output temperature does not change (T in = T out). Why does the Temp. the same?
2. How can I specified the Air and Fuel input?
3. How can I identified the impact of the Temp. Change to tube (tube expand)?

Appreciate your support in this regard.

Thanks,

you may know that there is a specific Aspen forum for questions about to use the software,

take care that fired heaters are not simple to model,
with a different software (Prode Properties) I model separately combustion (solving a reactor or starting from HC heats of combustion) and water/oil side (as heat exchanger),
I do this in Excel or Matlab (with Prode library) and results are about accurate (for a realistic simulation one should consider really a lot of different parameters...)
Consider also these aspect when evaluating your results...

Thanks apetri.

I am posting this basically to gain some guidance from this forum (I assuming that some one might have done this before).

From the model I have built, I want to know how much heat I can transfer from radiant zone to convective zone (to make convective zone equal to 350 deg C). However, from my model even i have increase the Temperature and the flow rate of the flue gas the outlet from convective zone doesn't change at all. (Convective Tin = Tout)?

If someone has done or used the HYSYS software to simulate fired heater, would be great I can get you thoughts.

I was not aware of realistic models for fired heaters available in Aspen, maybe some additional module,
if you wish that software estimates heat transfers with sufficient accuracy you should also define the geometry and several other parameters (as I do in Excel / Matlab with Prode),

if input form for fired heaters has all these fields probably it's only a matter to enter the correct data... some other member can help.
