Hypermesh line projection

Hi I've got what I think is a relatively small problem. I'm trying to create a line parallel to an edge at a node (see attached picture - I'm trying to create the red line with a node where the cross is). The problem is that the coordinate system does not align with the model so I can't just project the node by a distance. Is there another way of achieving this?
