Hi there colleagues

Does anyone have a short process description for H2O2? I also need to know what types of catalysts are used and so on to check the feasibility of making the stuff here in the Republic of SA.

Thanks and regards
Marius

Go to the library...doubt too many people here have time to type in text from a book for you.

Here is another source of information on process technology that some libraries have.
If you have a legitimate interest in the process you might contact them to discuss your needs.
This reference is a little outline.
Our technical library had both the Kirk-Othmer and the SRI process books.

Just as a reminder...
Please see FAQ731-376 for tips on how to make the best use of Eng-Tips Fora.

Otherwise, I get about 163000 hits using Yahoo! when searching for "Hydrogen peroxide production", take your pick.

Hi there EGT01

I have probably gone throug about a 100 of those 163,000. If you want we an replace this forum with a Google search button and then you (I mean people who know everything, like you) can all go home and boast to your pals...and thanks to unclesyd for a useful answer.

Just for the record, my last post was not directed at anyone in particular and was not intended to criticize anyone. Though it is just my opinion, I thought the link to the cheresources reference quite nicely addresses the original poster's query as written.

I read a rather old book:
Wood W.S.,Hydrogen Peroxide,(1953),The Royal Institute
where you can find a description and developement of a H2O2 production from the electrolytic process to the auto oxydation routes. A direct synthesis is a matter of recent patents. Some shorter descriptions you can get in Encyclopedias like Kirk Othmer.
