Hello all,

I am wondering why the plant's hydrogen generator requires cooling on both the anode and cathode side of the reaction.

Are both sides, where Water molecules split and O2 and H+ ions are formed, and the other side where H+ ions combine to form H2, net exothermic? Data I can find on these individual reactions leads me to wonder why in the world we need to cool both the process water and the hydrogen product side.

Thank you
