Hello Everybody

I'm currently working in a pipeline hydraulic transient analysis. Is the study of pressure transient generation as a consequence of a sudden valve closure or pump stoppage.
In order to obtain the system behavior there are some software that are useful like aft impulse or allivi.
My question is, it is possible to simulate this scenario in Aspen Hysys? And if it is possible, could you provide me some help/tip?

Thanks in Advance
Verónica

Its possible to study those things in HYSYS dynamics but i think you need the "upstream" module to include pressure surge because the "standard" version does not do a full energy ballance for the pipesegment (check the manual). Please remember that this is _not_ a support site. If you need help the Aspen support line is usually quite helpfull - or you may have to take a course.

in my opinion specialized tools (which cost far less than dynamic process simulators) are preferable for liquid transient analysis,
AFT impulse adopts method of characteristics, others may adopt the same or finite elements, compare these methods with simple integrators included in dynamic process simulators...
if you have multiphase consider OLGA or similar tools, expensive but no alternatives...
