I will attempt to hurricane tie a cold-form steel truss to a continuous wood bearing plate with a Simpson hurricane tie S/H1.
The problem is that the anchoring is intended for steel studs. I need to anchor to a wood bearing plate on masonry.
I am attempting justify anchoring the tie to the wood plate with nails, by interpolating the allowable lateral values by 0.75 since the S/H1 (for steel) has only (3) holes and the H1 (for wood) has (4).
To determine what size nails i need to specify, my question is, "How large are the holes in the Simpson H1?" At this time of day, Simpson tech support would not be available to answer questions.
Since the holes are designed for #10 TEK screws, i figure the holes must be the minor diameter of the screw. However, i cannot find the minor diameter on-line.
Does anyone have this information?
Thank you!
