Does anybody know of a good stressing method for composite lugs?

We can bodge something up, but it doesn't really look adequate for production parts without a fair bit of testing. Also, off-axis loading looks very hard to account for without some FE.

Ah yes, I'm living this bit of fun right now on a couple of projects. There will have to be a fair amounnt of testing to validate and certify a composite lug.

These two papers may be helpful:

C. Kassapoglou, “Failure Prediction of Composite Lugs Under Axial Loads”, AIAA Journal, Vol. 41, No. 11, November 2003.

M. Wallin, “Load Response and Failure of Thick RTM Composite Lugs”, In Proceedings of ICAS 2002 Congress.

Again, SW, thanks for the info. I shall acquire those.-RP.
