Hi all,

I am looking to get into the hobby of RC gas powered cars.
I wanted to start small with 2-stroke glow plug nitro engine.

As of this moment, I have 0 idea how to do it.

Can someone please advise me a book to learn to design this engine so that I can get started.

Thanks for all your time.

As BrianPetersen, buy the best one you can and improve on it, the first principle of good design.

It is a capital mistake to theorise before one has data. Insensibly one begins to twist facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit facts. (Sherlock Holmes - A Scandal in Bohemia.)

buy an old scrap one, take it apart to figure how it works, then buy a new one.

another day in paradise, or is paradise one day closer ?

" a book to learn to design this engine"

Indeed. What you need are the UK magazine "Model Engineering", which included many articles on designing/building/testing small engines, of many types. There may be a lack of academic rigo(u)r but mostly those guys were aiming at producing functional engines.

However, frankly, glow plug 2 strokes are as everybody else said easy to buy, and have known performance. The devil is in the exhaust expansion chamber/silencer, which may be calculable, but usually needs real world development. Your best investment would be a dyno.
