How to Remove mates from an Imported Assembly?

I am new to SW 2008 and I imported a parasolid file into an Assembly environment.

When I check the mates,it is showing "Fixed" on all parts.

Is it possible to delete the current mates and assign new mate conditions?
I tried to delete the existing "Fixed" mate and it doesn't work.
Any Settings need to change or other options, please.

Have you tried right-clicking on the parts and selecting "Float"?
