I have been a ProE user for a while and now am taking up
SW. I was curious what the SW equivalent is to "Component
Operations" in Proe. Component Ops are used in an assembly
of parts to cut out one part from another (or merge one
part into another). The cut-outs would be dependent on the
assembly and would update according to changes in part
locations in the assy.

Thnks.

In Pro/E you should be using a more top down design approach. The equivalent for that in Solidworks is 'insert part'

Let me open sw and see if I can get a cut to go thru two parts in an assembly.

thanks Bart!

what I am trying to do is create mold cavities based on the
part file, and have the freedom to adjust the location of
the cavities within the mold. Insert Part seems to work
fine.
