Hello,

I am trying to replicate a study for damage detection done at my university; it is a simple 4-point bending analysis on a concrete beam without reinforcement. Initially I am using concrete properties found on the link, using the Concrete Damaged Plasticity model on Abaqus.

Follows attached the analysis I am trying to do. I have tried applying force, pressure and displacement, and none seems to work. In each case a found numerous different problems. In this case, make it work with force is the ideal, since it is how was done in the real test.

When applying displacement, force or pressure I got:

-          For two-dimensional models, if a non-unity thickness is specified for two-dimensional solid elements and these elements are involved in an interaction such as contact, the same thickness should be specified for the out-of-plane thickness of the corresponding surface under *surface interaction.

-          The plasticity/creep/connector friction algorithm did not converge at X points.

-          Solver problem. Zero pivot when processing D.O.F. 1 of 1 nodes. The nodes have been identified in node set WarnNodeSolvProbZeroPiv_1_1_68_1_1.

I keep varying the values applied, if I put a low value, the stress x strains curve becomes a straight line (probably due only using the elastic part). If a put a high value, I got the errors and warnings mentioned above, and looking to the stress x strain curve for tension it is possible to conclude that the error occurs when the stress reaches the peak (around 3 MPa).

I have been work on this for a while, but in the last weeks, I was not able to advance at any part. If anyone has any suggestion or even a file simulating concrete using Concrete Damaged Plasticity that works, it will be very helpful.
