Hi, I'm a new entry in this forum. I'm a young "italian" mechanical engineer and I'm going to analyse the dynamics of electronic equipments (like printed circuit boards).
I work with FEMAP (and nastran) and I would know if anybody can explain to me how to perform (with femap)a random analysis (giving a random mask as input and seeing the PSD of the output). The user's guide is not very clear with regard to this subject.

I do not know FEMAP, but if you have the full MSC/NASTRAN license you can define a random analysis with direct input to your NASTRAN deck. You have to define the random loading in the RANDPS input. If your structure can be described as a one DOF system, and your spectrum is flat, you can use the Miles equation to get a approximate response value. (Steinberg, Vibration analysis for electronic equipment)

if you search the web for 'FEMCI Book' you will be directed to a site that has a precise tutorial about how to setup a random vibration analysis run for NASTRAN and how to read the results. By the way, why do you define yourself as an 'italian' engineer? I mean, I am italian as well, but without ''.
