How to measure screw thread positions subject to material condition variations 1

Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to inspect the position of a screw thread when called out at MMC? Is there an "assured tight fit" gauge that will at least enable one to measure the thread position RFS?

Also, I generally have a need for a reference text that describes dimensional inspection techniques for features controlled by geometric tolerances per ASME Y14.5M-1994 (or -2009). Can anyone point me to one?
