Hi,

I have a question in how to find strain in a 6 node second order triangular element. How do I use the strain-displacement matrix (B matrix) to find strain? I know the equation to do this is epsilon=, but elements in the B matrix are expressed in area coordinates L1 and L2. What values of L1 and L2 or what transformation to those coordinates should I do so that I can use the equation mentioned?

i'd reverse engineer it for the stress results ... strain = stress/E; but you seem to be asking a more fundamental question than that ...
