How to disable Automatic Dimensioning?

When I pull a new part into a new drawing view in Paper Space it automatically - automatic dimensions it. All this does is causes me to have to erase the dimensions it creates.

Can someone tell me how to turn this off please?

Don't erase them. You can modify the part while in a layout by double-clicking the parametric dimension and editing it to the desired length. Then right-click and choose "update layout". To turn off the parametric dims by using the "amvisible" command, which can also be found in the "drawing layout" toolbar. Next pick the "parametric dims" checkbox.
