Hi all,

I've imported wireframe mesh files (.igs) into ABAQUS and have been trying to convert them to both shell and solid surfaces. I'm fairly new to ABAQUS, so unfortunately I've been stuck on this for a while now. I'd appreciate any advise anyone can give me.

Thanks,
Max

You can use the Tools-Geometry Repair-Create Face (in the Part module). Depending on the quality of the wireframe geometry you might have to play with some of the options eg. analytical surface. If you need to you can create extra wireframe edges, either point to point segments or splines. Also, you can use the lofting feature to create shell or solid geometry based on cross sections from your wireframe geometry.
In short, there are quite a few things you can try!

Thanks brep. I'll try out your suggestions.
