For instance, if I have a tubing as a Y shape, how can I convert it from a solid part to a sheetmetal part, in order to develop it afterwards ? Assuming that this Y shape part has been created from pro foundation module.

In ProE, with your model active, select APPLICATIONS/SHEETMETAL and pick either SHELL or DRIVING SURFACE. Use SHELL for models that do not have a uniform wall thickness, and use DRIVING SURFACE for models that have uniform walls. This determines the actual sheet-metal wall after conversion occurs.

For a model like yours, you will need to use SHTMTL CUTS or RIPS to allow sheetmetal to flatten the final state.

You may have some difficulty in DEVELOPPING the y-shape area, so use the DEFORM AREA here.

Let me know if you need more info. Maybe even look at your part.
