Hi all,

When I review the results of a frame analysis (a 2D rafter and collar tie set), the self weight of the frame is showing up as zero in every load case and load combo. I would like the self weight dead load of the material to be accounted for in the analysis.

I have defined a wood material (about 28 pcf) and 2x6 section in SAP2000 (v 14).

The mass source is set on "From elements and additional masses" but the multiplier is greyed out and there is nothing explicitly added in the window. This was the default setting when SAP2000 was installed.

The elements seem to be properly defined as 2x6 sections with a gravity dead load in the UZ global coordinate system with a self weight multiplier of 1.

The distributed snow and superimposed dead load seem to be properly applied and show up in the analysis.

This is my first model in SAP2000 so any help is appreciated. Also I don't see much in the way of tutorials in the software. Perhaps v15 will have more.

Thanks again.

Setting the Mass Definition to "From Loads" or "From Element and Additional Masses and Loads" and then defining a mass multiplier (1.0) for the self weight dead load under "Define Mass Source" does not seem to help.
