I wish to present an animation of a product that requires me to remove a part of it from it's 'storage' location and reinsert it into it's 'ready to use' location on another part of the main product. If that's not hard enough, for other reasons on the product, the part has to rotate through 180 degrees end to end before it can dock into it's final position. To illustrate further, although it's not this sort of product, consider a vacuum cleaner with the spare nozzel clipped in a recess then being removed and relocated to the end of the flex hose. Got it? Oh, and by the way, the route from A to B is not a straight line as it's going from one end of the product to the other!

Any suggestions?

I'd check out the help topic on animation, followed by seeing if there aren't any tutorials on YouTube. Follow all that up with practice. You might check out robrodriguez.com, he's an animation guru.
