How much is the allowed maximum stress in contact for separation ? 1

Hi All

If you have to define a stress limit for a contact node, how much would be that stress , ( in an arbitrary condition ) is there a rule of thumb ?

Why do you have stresses in contact separation? What solver are you using?
In Abaqus I've never seen such an effect, beside when I've created it on purpose to simulate interface failure.


But in general: since it is a artificial and unreal effect, these stresses should be very small compared to the overall stresses in that region.
