How does PMG reduce EMI/RFI?

A client of ours wants to specify a PMG on a ~55kW genset for the purposes of EMI reduction. How does this work?
I'm aware of the major benefit to PMG excitation as a reduction in the variations due to motor starting voltage drop, line harmonics, etc.
I can see that some manufacturers list EMI reduction as a benefit to PMG excitation, but details are lacking.
Can anyone enlighten me please?

Thanks for your help.

That's a new on me on me also. I will be eagerly awaiting an explanation.

There is usually some HF commutation noise from the excitation system rectifier which can be detected at the main terminals of a bus-fed exciter. A PMG isolates the excitation system from the main output. I can't think of any normal generator application where this would be a problem except maybe broadcast or telecoms, and even then it would be unlikely.

If we learn from our mistakes I'm getting a great education!

Thanks Scotty.

Many thanks.

Sounds like I'll have to figure out what they're really looking for, or afraid of.
