How do you supress weld symbols on parts in assemblies?

When I place a weldment into an assembly, the weld symbols are displayed. I can turn them off in the weldment, but they are visible in the assembly they are placed in. How do I turn them off???

"View"--- "object visability" --- Uncheck "weld symbols"
