Please help me. I am a ProE user who is just learning SW and loving every minute. What I am trying to do is trivial in Pro but I can't figure it out in SW.

What I'm trying to do is create a pattern of concentric annular thin cuts similar to growth rings on a tree or ripples in a pond.

Ideally I would like the rings to be segments of a circle.

Thanks in advance.

If you are serious, your addition to this forum is VERY welcome change ... but I think I just saw a pink animal with a snout & curly tail fly by my window. [lol]

You will probably be able to use the Vary Sketch option under the Insert > Pattern?Mirror > Linear Pattern function.

Sketch your rings on the face or plane that you want them. Select extruded-cut. In the property manager select the contour tool and highlight each ring. Then go to thin feature and select your width and complete.

BlimeyLimey,

Thanks for the file. It was quite helpful, however, I have one more question.

I would like to have the controlling dimension be a diameter instead of a radius but the pattern dialog isn't happy with diameters.

Thanks a bunch

Would "vent" work for you? Insert > Fastening Features > Vent.

By "controlling dimension," do you mean the size of the original slot? If so, there are a couple of ways to do that;

1) By using the "mirror about a centreline" feature when placing the dimension.

2) By dimensioning a centreline which is constrained mid point to the origin.
