I have run a web search for information on Houghton Muck, but haven't really come up with much other than a one sentence description of how it is formed and what the ph range is. Any suggestions on other sources of information?

The topic has come up in relation to a proposed construction site for a foot bridge. Borings have not been taken as yet, but the County Soils Agent has described the site as having Houghtion Muck, with the added comment that the soil is corrosive to metal and has very low bearing capacity. He evidently has past experiance with this soil type, which I don't. I prefer to wait for the soil boring, but would like some background information while we wait.
