We want to buy a hose with OD 40-43 mm, but manufacturer is offering OD of 38 mm & he gives the below explanation. Please advise:
We Manufacture the Hose in accordance with BS5342:1985:A2 ,Which is the standard used for the application high pressure Saturated Steam. Usually industry standard dimensional ID:1inch/25mm & OD :1½Inch=1.5x25.4mm=38mm. while Testing the dimensional measurements (Dia & Length) BS5173-1 standard is applicable for Dimensional Tolerance. OD of a hose dictates the weight/mtr ,which shall be depends on the properties of the materials used. It might be varied by different manufacturers due to continues R&D. If one Manufacturer delivered a steam hose with OD:40mm over a period, the same manufacturer shall be liable to deliver the hose with 38mm due to their product improvement on later . Finally we hereby confirm that dimensional variation is acceptable technically.
