Contractor is requesting Horizontal cold joint in monolithic concrete beams at the locations where the slab and beams intersect.

The joint is below the compression block, and i cant come up with another good reason to not let them.

But my gut feeling is I dont like it.

Some inuput and comments would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I don't think you should make a stink about it. As long as the interface is rough and free of laitance, you should be okay. There are requirements in ACI Chapter for precast concrete that has requirements on horizontal shear transfer.
