Another hip beam question:

A long 4x12 hip beam (28') is supported by a 4x post at the middle (in a wall) and another at the end. Ofcourse the top is supported by the ridge beam.

For the interior post(where the post will be a few inches above the top plate), is simpson VPA4 the best connector? In order to do this, would the post have be oriented 45 deg in the angle of the hip beam?

Thank you

Why do you need the connector at the post brace? Not knowing your slope, a simple seat cut may work.

Also, why do you need post in first place? Is beam a structural hip ridge or just a regular hip ridge?

Consider using a CCO column cap parallel to the hip beam and custom welding the side plates parallel to the post. Post needs to be cut at an appropriate angle for even bearing. Just one out of many possibilities...
