high water table in a basement

i am designing a basement at -1.76m deep,the footings go another 1.2 mt deep,the problem is there is a rice field close by on the western side.and the water table is high -0.90.how does water not penetrate into basement.

Without foundation drains and a positive gravity flow, I see only problems too. Even a sump pump would be problematic as the water will infiltrate and create a wet environment in the basement. Better to raise the house and the floor of the basement above the high water mark.

I think this is probably beyond a sump pump anyway, it would be running non-stop.

Not to mention, you will likely always be dealing with a damp, mildewy basement, if you can even get the foundation poured and cured.

What is driving this design? I'd be a little hesitant even poring a slab on grade with GW that high. Is that a seasonal elevation or actual depth to GW? Is this in the US? How are you getting a basement approved?
