Hi all,

I going to design a power supply with 6KV / 700uA (<30mv ripple) output and 10 Volts DC input?
its based on push-pull transistor driver for ferrite transformer input and a N stage (diode-capcacitor pump) voltage mltiplier?
How can I calculate capacitance of capacitors & number of stages?

Rgards,
John

"<30 mV ripple" on 6 kV is relatively quite low. Probably do-able, but you'll certainly need to pay it some attention. I guess the low current would help.

I assume if you Google 'voltage multiplier' and variations you should be able to find some good info. Adding .pdf to the search terms often helps in floating better info up to the top.

30mV ripple is very hard to do with a conventional stabiliser, almost impossible from a multiplier. You might manage it with a multistage LC filter but very expensive and bulky.

Regarding "multistage LC filter but very expensive and bulky", please be informed that provide a similar one "6A12-P4-F-M-C" with only 51x127x29mm dim.

Then... why not buy one from them?

I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy it...

I before had an experience in design HV PS. Here I prefer to do it.

It would seem that the part you quote does not quite meet your spec, you also need a 6kv output capacitor. You wont get your home built supply anywhere near as small as theirs. You should take scottys advice.

Nowdays, The high voltage ceramic capcitores provided with coin dimentions.
