Is there a way to have phantom lines (curves) show in a photo-realistic image ?

I have a very large machine that I want to show shaded, but I want to show the foundation that it sits in as phantom cruves.

I am on NX7.5

Yes/ no.

If you do "software rendering" curves will not show at all.
If you do hardware rendering ( Studio display mode etc) curves will show.

The way i have done this in the distant past is to combine a software rendered image with a "saved copy" of the hardware rendered in paint shop pro or Photoshop or similar.
Use the "Capture studio image" option on the studio display mode and you can set the image size. ( Not file- export- .... where you cannot set the size.)
That was before the "Artistic Image" feature was implemented. I guess that using Artistic Image - Hand drawn ( set all the artistic options as low as possible and you should have a "non-hand drawn" image.) and combining that with the rendered will produce a nice image.
The artistic image uses the same "image settings" as the rendering so the image size etc will be identical.

Another workaround is to create tiny tube features on top of the edges / curves that you want to highlight.
I have also , in the past , blended / chamfered edges that should be visible in the image. In the real world an edge is , apart from knifes etc, never really sharp, it will produce a highlight.

I created an example image , attached.

Regards,
Tomas
