Hexachlorobenzene Detecting/Analysing Device

Are there any Gas Analysers or Detectors that can analyser or detect HexaChlorobenzene, (C6CL6) It is a banned Chemical and i need to check the fumes/exhaust of products to ensure that the exhaust does not contain Hexachlorobenzene.

I have called up over 13 companies but it seems that most of the analysers they carry are GC (Gas Chromatography)and do not accept Gas Samples.

Has anyone had experience with this?

No. Analysis of hexachlorobenzene in environmental media generally involves extraction of the sample into organic solvents, followed by a clean-up step to remove potential interference by other organo-chlorine compounds. Organic extracts are analysed by gas chromatography/ mass spectrometry (GC/MS) or gas chromatography with electron capture detection (GC/ECD).

Use EPA Method TO-10A for monitoring. Use PUF and XAD for sample collection and GC/ECD, GC/MS, or GC/PID for analyses.

so i pour XAD on the PUF and expose the PUF piece to the flue gas and then put the entire PUF piece into the GC?

I am sorry, i am very new to this and i want to stop my suppliers from selling products with HCB in it as it is very very harmful.

The procedure is in the EPA Method EO-10A.

Solvent extraction is used to extract the HCB off the PUF sampler.
