Henry Martyn Robert, (1837-1923) was a military engineer. He served with the Corps of Engineers for 36 years constructing many river and harbor improvements and fortifications. After the 1900 tidal wave in Galveston, Texas, he helped build its sea wall.
Today, we remember the name Robert not for his engineering accomplishments but as the author of "Robert's Rules of Order"
