what software is suitable or appropriate for the calculation of
torque

Would you like to calculate the Stress on the shaft. If so
you can use the direct torsional equation to find the shear
stress. In the calculation you may require to calculate the
Polar moment of Inertia of the shaft. For that purpose you
can use the Pro Engineer option called "X-section mass
properties" located in the Analysis ->Model ->X-section
mass properties.

I think pro Mechanica is capable of doing such calculation.
 
Pro-E mechanica will do it....
