Help! Viewports always go to extents!

We're working ona drawing that, when we make new viewports, cannot be scaled; when you click in model space (from layout) it always reverts to extents.

What's happening? Any Help appreciated.

Try setting UCSFOLLOW=0 and/or lock the viewport after setting the proper scale.

thanks for your reply lpseifert,
I managed to solve the problem looking furhter around various forums. I believe the UCSVP was the system variable that finally did it.
