help needed regarding Txline antenna

Hello All,

I am collecting info about transimission line antennas,I have a doubt for any transmission line antenna do we need to terminate the line with its characteristic impedance? or is there anything else? I dont know its not making sense to me. Can anybody explain it to me or any link where I can find some info.

I assume that you're referring to leaky coax antenna systems (or similar).

If you don't terminate the leaky line, then the emission performance at the far end might become a function of position (due to standing waves caused by the open circuit at the far end).

On the other hand, if most of the energy has been leaked-out already, then there wouldn't be much RF energy at the far end anyway.

Check with the OEM for recommendations (application notes).

It would seem likely that smooth performance would require a matched load at the far end, and that there would still be a fair amount of power even at the far end.

OEM is the manufacturer of the product.

OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer

For something like leaky coaxial cable (a technology that not everyone is familiar with), I can only assume that the OEM website would (or should) have a section called Application Notes (or similar).

If not, then phone them up.

If you don't have a specific product in mind, then research such products on the market.
