I need to know what the thickest single sided pc board material available is. Also how thick is the copper cladding and do you need special agents to etch it? Where can I buy some in small quantities? Thanks

The thicknest laminate material (G10 or FR4) that I have seen listed is 1.000 inches, clad or unclad. The thickest copper cladding that I have seen is 2 oz. Circuit board houses usually buy either 1/4, 1/2 or 1 oz cladding and plate up to the customer requirement. I have done boards as heavy as 8 oz copper.

jmc900:

Check the Digi-Key catolog or web site. They carry Injectoral products, with small quantities of 1/2, 1, 2 and 4 ounce copper. I have seen thicker weights, but are usually special order, and with minimum quantities. You could plate additional copper on the surface to any practical thickness. For those who want to know, the ounce is the weight of one square foot of copper for the copper thickness applied. One ounce copper is about 1.5 mils thick. Unless you need narrow traces, etch undercutting should not be a problem.
