thread403-411430 I am working on a manual car wash facility and wondering if anyone has worked on a ventilation system with heat recovery in a place where winter temp. is around -4 F and 80%RH. If I had a heat recovery system, what would be an option to avoid or get rid of condensation or freezing issues in the middle of winter?

My first thought would be forget the heat recovery unless you can provide us with more details on the design of the car wash structure. The manual car wash facilities in my area are single bays line up in a row side by side with the bay doors wide open therefore heat recovery would be useless.

Heated air curtains plus overhead garage doors. Close doors while washing. Control door heater by room temperature sensor and door interlock to heat and turn on if temperature sensor requires it even if doors closed. To turn on whenever doors are open.

As a variation on Lilliput's suggestion: unheated air curtain with separate radiant heat panels to warm the surfaces in the room. (this might be more effective than trying to keep the air warm)
