Hi,

Could you please tell me,Why heat of mixing data is important and how this data used in practical engineering application.

Thanks

Get a beaker of 98 sulfuric and beaker of water. Carefully mix them and observe. You'll have the answer for yourself.

For a really good time, put two 400-barrel chemical tanks in the same berm. Put sulfuric acid solution in one (~95%) and sodium hydroxide solution (~54%) in the other. Then, when the acid tank leaks through the drain valve, to avoid an ensuing acid spill, pump the caustic into the acid tank and mix it in an effort to produce a titrated and neutral solution to minimize the damage to the environment.

No, it wasn't my idea.

Regards,

SNORGY.

and an extension of the heat of mixing is the heat of absorption and adsorption.

How about a Mentos in a diet Coke. Gotta be some heat gain/loss on that one..
