I'm having trouble finding definitive information on head dimensions for for North American pattern M2.6 pan head.

I've seen several different values for diameter and most of the references I find appear to be European pattern. I believe that for pan heads North American screw heads are slightly taller.

I looked in machineries but it doesn't list M2.6 and it's BS specs anyway so the height would also be wrong. Google searches didn't turn up a definitive answer, best I got was but I'd like to find at least one other source that agrees with it. Plus I'm not sure about the height as it says DIN standards.

Anyone have a good internet source, I can't really justify getting the spec just for this.

Thanks,

KENAT,

The last time I tried to figure out metric pan head screws, I found that DIN specs for "raised recessed cheese head screws" closely conformed to the Phillips head screws that I was using. Look for DIN 7985.

I am located in Canada.

"cheese head screws"

and

"I am located in Canada."

That figures.

The way I hear it it's all the canadians fault anyway that the North American metric pan heads are different to the rest of the world.

Anyway thanks drawoh, I've had that suggestion before but been nervous about relying on a rule of thumb, but I guess it'll have to do.

M2.6 pan head diameter = 5mm
Head height = 1.5mm

The diameter mcgyver gives looks like it matches that of my above link.

Howevever the head height is different.

It looks like the head dimensions in McMaster for M2.6 slotted pan head match those for an M2.5 in my machineries handbook.

However I believe the head heights for phillips may be higher than for slots.

I just looked at at chart from and for M2.5 Phillips they have 2.1 max height.

I guess I'll use that for now and see if I can get anything from our vendor.

(I looked at thread404-185261)

yes M2.6 not 2.5 or anything else, 2.6.

A couple of the above links have it listed for various head types, I just can't find anything definite for North American Style Pan Heads, especially Phillips.

Seems it's used in electrical motors/actuators and the like a lot.

Doesn't help that there seem to be a lot of reduced dia head styles out there like this one
