HCl tank pressure relief vents

I have an HCl application (37%) where we use a 750bbl tank. I need to install a thief hatch (8") and a fire hatch (20"). The challenge is that all PVTH's and EPR's I find are either carbon steel, aluminum or 316SS. Neither is acid resistant. (ambient conditions are +30ºC to -20ºC)

Does anybody here knows who can supply this type of relief vents for HCl?

I am going to start looking for hastelloys to manufacture them.

Any ideas would be welcomed.

The HCl tanks I have history with (back from my old chlorate days) all had wet scrubbers on the vents. During loading of the tank the displaced air had to be scrubbed...at 37% HCl vapor pressure is very high. Since the effluent of the scrubber was open to atmosphere no pressure other pressure relief was required (besides the tank overflow that went to a water seal).

Could you use some sort of sealpot? If water freezing was a problem you could design it for some sort of brine perhaps. Unfortunately, a sealpot does require some operator attention.

Freezing would be a huge issue. Nevertheless, I think you just shed a little light here. Thanks

Non-metallic FRP vent devices are available. Contact one of the major suppliers (Groth, Protectoseal, Protego, Varec).

Thanks Don, I have sent numerous e-mails out

As an update, I did get Groth to supply thief hatches and EPRV completely HCl resistant coated.
The non-metallic options resulted in the need for very low set-points which did not suit my application.
