Guy Tower Anchor Block Modification

Hello all,

This is my first post on this board. I am working for a company that analyzes telecommunications towers. They have asked me to design modifications for a guyed tower anchor block. The contractor that will be performing the modifications can be very difficult so I am sure if I just give one solution another alternative will be requested. What different methods are there for modifying an existing guy anchor block for the capacity required from the addition of antennas?

There is a specific software program out there - just for doing this. Don't know much about it or even its name But I an sure "Google" can find it.

Make sure the anchor rod is not the limiting factor. Use dowels to tie the new concrete to the existing. Increase the width and hight as needed.

The main thing is don't mess up what you already have. Remembering that you still have a load to resist (maybe not the max), so I'd set up a few rules that the contractor must follow. For instance: no disturbance to any earth in front of the existing block, or even adjacent to that earth. You might even require a temporary supplemental anchorage, such as helical anchors as a safety feature. My main concern would be my usual statement "In construction, if it could be done wrong, it will be". With cable clamps, make sure they don't put them on wrong.
