I have a small Polysulfone, 20% Glass, 15% TFE part with OD of .03".
This part will be overmolded with injection molding material. This material has 93% NeFeB powder, and the rest is Nylon 12 binder. The resultant part OD is .1".
We have used Grilamid L16 nat as the binder so far.
The compounder wants us to switch to Grilamid L25 nat for some reason.
Comparing the data sheets I found Grilamid L25 nat to be HIGH viscosity Nylon12, while Grilamid L16 nat is LOW viscosity Nylon12. Data sheet for Grilamid L25 nat provides information for EXTRUSION only, not for MOULDING.
Would Grilamid L25 nat be a good substitude for Grilamid L16 nat in my case?

Get with EMS Grivory and ask them. If you are using the L16 successfully, the molder needs to tell you exactly why he wants to change and why he thinks the change will be successful. Until he does that, dont even consider it. He undoubtedly want the change to improve his profitability. Either he uses it for another customer and gets a volume deal, or he has found some material dirt cheap. You need to ask what's in it for you. We had a molder change a material on us with a promise of a cost reduction because he already bought it by the boat load. What he didnt tell us was that he was molding tiny parts with big runners and had lots of scrap material. He started molding our part with 50% regrind!!!!

My colleague used to work for EMS Chemie.

He has suggested that the compounder may find it easier to work with L25 (more back pressure for him to enable better/easier pelletizing), but you will be unlikely to injection mould it. L16 is the "go to" grade for magnetic material compounding.
